Secrets from the Nāṭya Śāstra for the Connoisseur of the Arts Inspired from the Nāṭya Śāstra, this interactive workshop brings lessons for the dancer, musician, actor, poet, and all who want to master the drama of life. Explore and learn techniques of invoking the performer within you. Derive deep insights from the ancient Indian practice of dramaturgy to savor each moment as it arrives. The workshop is led by Shekhar Shastri, a poet, musician and dramatist who teaches ‘Sanskrit Poetics’ and ‘Dramaturgy’ at MIT, USA. Read More

RĀGA-RANG

Raga-Rang 2017
Raaga Rang 2017 was a celebration of music in nature.  The program took audiences through a symbolic musical journey which portrayed the key elements of invocation, emergence, language, form, aesthetic delight and transcendence. Invoking the cycle of creation from the ‘nāda brahman’, it  went on to explore ‘manifestation’ of elements  centered on Srishti-Tattva that of Prithvi, Agni and  Aakash. Meandering through language,  ‘form’ and Rasa or Aesthetic delight the program culminated in ‘moksha,’ or transcendence arriving at a state of inner balance. Raaga-Rang 2016
Raaga-Rang 2016 was a melodious conversation between folk and classical Indian music. Held on April 9th in Lexington, USA, the program consisted of an ensemble of songs that explored the bridge between Indian classical, folk, and Bollywood film music. This year Raaga Rang took on a journey that traversed 5 distinct regions of India, and highlighted some key musical genres. The program explored how classical music provides the Folk genre with timeless wings to soar & feet to walk on earth. Read More

Gandharva Classical Choir
Gāndharva Gaan, A Choir of Classical, Folk and Regional songs from India was presented by the Gāndharva Choir of India on Saturday, June 24th 2017 at the Regis College Fine Arts Center in Weston, MA. Creative, innovative, and experimental, the Gāndharva Choir has presented hundreds of striking performances of Indian choral music, in India and abroad. Founded in 1939 by the Late Pandit Vinay Chandra Maudgalya, the Gāndharva Choir is affiliated to the Gāndharva Mahavidyalaya, New Delhi’s prestigious college of Indian music & arts. Summit Meru 2016
Awaken the Performer Within: A 5 day workshop on the ‘Art of Performance Aesthetics’  Awaken the Performer Within: Secrets from the Natyashastra was held in July 2016. The course took  inspiration from the 2500-year old Sanskrit treatise on dramaturgy, Natyashastra, which continues to power creativity and innovation even today.
